From Åtvidaberg, the waste is sent to Tekniska verken in Linköping. There it is sorted optically and the color determines where the bag ends up. The cameras cannot read in black and therefore black bags and sacks are now banned, the municipality announces on its website.
Earlier this year, the municipality introduced green bags for food waste to be converted to biogas. Since 1 August, new legislation has been in force for the whole country, and in connection with this, the sanitation regulations in Åtvidaberg have been renewed.
