Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi told regional officials yesterday that India can overcome the Corona virus if it is able to defeat 10 of the most affected states, adding that these states represent more than 80% of the active cases in India.

India ranks third in terms of the countries most affected by the Corona virus, after the United States of America and Brazil, with 2.3 million cases, and 45,257 deaths from the virus.

"We have a vision that if we make efforts, and we are united to defeat the virus in these 10 states, India will emerge victorious in its battle against the Corona virus," Modi added at a videoconference conference with state ministers.

Modi urged states to increase corona screening tests, saying that their role is important in the battle against the virus. It is noteworthy that India conducts 700 thousand tests daily.

Modi said, "Experts say now that if we monitor cases of Coronavirus within 72 hours of their appearance, then infection cases will decrease significantly," adding that India is making progress, as the number of active cases decreased, and the number of people who recovered from the virus reached 1.5 million.
