Earlier, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Lithuania announced its readiness to provide asylum to citizens of Belarus, including representatives of the opposition.

It was also reported that Lithuania issued a visa for a year to the candidate for the presidency of Belarus Svetlana Tikhanovskaya who arrived in the country.

On August 9, presidential elections were held in Belarus. Against the background of the elections, protests took place in 33 settlements of the country.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that 39 security officials and 50 civilians were injured during the protests. The arrest of several thousand people was also reported.
