The Minister of Foreign Affairs said this in an interview with the publication "Argumenty i Fakty".

“The risks of bioterrorism are not a new topic, it has been discussed at international platforms for many years, and the current situation, which has significantly changed life on the entire planet, naturally stimulates such discussions,” Lavrov said.

He added that manipulation of the above-mentioned topics, including for "opportunistic purposes", is unacceptable.

"At the same time, the problem of preventing dangerous chemicals and biological agents, as well as technologies for the production of chemical and biological weapons, from falling into the hands of terrorists, is more acute than ever," the minister stressed.

In March, Leonid Roshal, president of the Research Institute of Emergency Pediatric Surgery and Traumatology, called the coronavirus situation a rehearsal for biological warfare.
