11 August 2020 The sub-tropical anticyclone is slowly conquering our entire country and begins to send masses of hot air directly from the Sahara desert. The air crossing the Mediterranean will become loaded with humidity making the atmosphere sultry. The heat will create conditions of physical discomfort especially in the weakest people (children and the elderly and the sick). Temperatures will experience a steady rise. The Meteo.it team warns that the maximum values ​​in the next few days will exceed 34 ° C in many Italian cities.

In the North, the thermometers will be hotter in Emilia (Bologna, Ferrara), Lombardy (Mantua) and Veneto (Verona and Rovigo) with peaks of 36-37 ° C.

In the Center, the hottest regions will be Tuscany (37-39 ° C in Florence) and Sardinia (up to over 40 ° C in inland areas), but it will also be very hot in Rome, Perugia and Ascoli (34- 35 ° C sultry).

In the South, Puglia, the Ionian coasts of Basilicata and Sicily will touch peaks of 37-38 ° C, even beyond the inland areas of the island.

The sun will prevail and thunderstorms will mainly affect the Alps, but between Wednesday and Thursday they could also reach some flat areas of Piedmont, Lombardy and Veneto, in this case being strong.

Also for the weekend of August the African anticyclone will not let go, guaranteeing a very sunny and very hot Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th in all regions.

Heat waves, civil protection alert in Sardinia 
It is again alert in Sardinia for temperatures, which will reach very high maximum values ​​in the coming days. The Regional Civil Protection has issued a warning for adverse weather conditions starting from tomorrow at 12 and until Friday evening. The heat wave will hit the whole island and in particular the central-western and northern parts.

The decentralized functional center of the Civil Protection of Veneto has in fact declared the state of attention for hydrogeological criticalities, especially on mountain areas, starting from today at 14, until midnight on Thursday. These days the region continues to be affected by an anticyclonic circulation associated with a promontory on the central Mediterranean, which extends from North Africa to the North Sea. There may be heat storms on mountain areas, especially in the Dolomites, in the afternoon and evening hours of today and tomorrow. Locally intense phenomena will be possible, especially in the Dolomites and occasionally also in the foothills.
