Russian President Vladimir Putin announced Tuesday that his country has developed the first vaccine that provides "sustainable immunity" against the emerging corona virus (SARS Cove 2) that causes Covid-19 disease.

The Russian president said that one of his daughters was vaccinated with the new vaccine against the Corona virus, according to Russia Today. (RT Arabic).

"This morning, for the first time in the world, a vaccine against the emerging corona virus was recorded" in Russia, Putin said during a video call with his cabinet ministers.

Russia Today quoted him as saying that "this vaccine has passed all the tests."

Russian Deputy Health Minister Olek Grenev recently announced that the vaccine was in the final testing phase.

Another prominent health sector official said last month that large quantities of the vaccine were expected to be produced in September.

Putin added, while asking Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko, to provide details about the vaccine; "I know that it (the vaccine) works very effectively, it forms stable immunity, and I repeat that it passed all necessary tests."

Great confidence

The Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte praised the Russian efforts to develop the vaccine, and expressed his willingness to participate in his experience, and welcomed a Russian offer to supply the vaccine to Manila, saying that he expected it to be free of charge.

Russia has expressed its willingness to supply the Philippines with the vaccine, or to cooperate with a local company to produce it in large quantities.

"I will inform President (Russian Vladimir) Putin that I have great confidence in your
studies to combat Covid-19, and I believe that the vaccine that you have produced is really good for humanity, " Duterte said - in a speech broadcast on television late last night .

The frantic global race to provide an anti-virus vaccine has raised concerns that considerations of speed and national prestige will come at the expense of safety.

To allay people's fears, Duterte offered to be a "test mouse" when the new vaccine arrives, saying "I can be the first to undergo a trial."

His office said today, Tuesday, that the Philippines is ready to work with Russia on vaccine trials, supplies and production.
