Several dozen cows were stranded on residential roofs after heavy flooding in South Korea. Trapped by the rising waters, the cattle took refuge somehow in several buildings.

In the rural commune of Gurye, in the south of the country, torrential rains caused a sudden rise in water levels, forcing the animals to survive as best they could. But when the water flowed back, the cows had no way of getting back down on their own.

31 people killed by floods

“The cows swam when the water level rose and reached the roof where they stayed after the water came down,” a resident of Gurye told JTBC. The rescuers had to bring a crane to bring down the animals, one after the other.
