In her Facebook, Zakharova noted that on August 10, five years have passed since her inauguration as director of the information and press department of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

“I didn’t think that on this day I would be protecting Russian journalists from disproportionate actions of the security forces in fraternal Belarus,” she wrote.

The Russian diplomat recalled that journalists are obliged to work, respecting the laws of the host country and having a permit.

“But many of them in good faith requested accreditation in advance, according to all the rules. She was not given to them, but now they were hit on the head with truncheons, ”Zakharova added.

The representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry emphasized that "this is not possible" and "it is definitely not brotherly."

On August 9, three journalists from the Dozhd TV channel were detained in Belarus. According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, the incident occurred due to the lack of the necessary accreditation.

They were later released after being banned from entering Belarus for five years.
