The Civil Guard, within the framework of the Skoen operation , has clarified, after more than eight months of investigation, the homicide of a male of Ecuadorian nationality living in the town of Cardenete (Cuenca) . The author of his death was a worker for this businessman from the field and to hide the body they started a fire that affected 2,822 hectares.

The events date back to July 29, 2019, when a neighbor of the Cardenetera town reported the disappearance of her husband, a businessman in the area dedicated to the collection of rosemary, the Civil Guard has reported in a press release. The agents considered that it could be a forced disappearance, so the investigation was carried out by members of the Organic Unit of Judicial Police (UOPJ) of the Cuenca Command.

At the same time, the Seprona of the Cuenca Civil Guard and the Environmental Agents Corps of the Junta de Castilla-La Mancha have completed an investigation of almost 11 months of duration aimed at determining the authorship of the forest fire that began on July 30, 2019 in the municipality of Valverdejo and that was extended through the municipalities of Valverdejo, Gabaldón, Barchín del Hoyo and P iqueras del Castillo .

The Judicial Police agents were reconstructing the events that contributed to the disappearance of DHCL and focused their investigation on Motilla del Palancar , intensifying it on the workers that the victim had housed in a house in that town.

Subsequently, the agents identified the occupants of the house, where, in addition to taking statements from the residents, they found out that two workers and one of the managers were absent from the aforementioned house on August 6.

As a result of the work carried out, enough traces were obtained to presume that the victim had died violently, the perpetrator of the homicide being the fled manager. During the investigation, it was determined that along with the fugitive, an African male of Mali nationality, two other males participated, both of African origin, being arrested and brought to justice, one in August and the other in November of last year respectively.

Regarding the fire, the investigation concluded that the fire was intentional by the temporary worker who was carrying out work to collect the rosemary, and that he caused the fire to hide the body of the person whom he had allegedly killed. Finally, the Civil Guard located in the municipality of Gabaldón the corpse of the disappeared person.

The possible perpetrator is on the run and an International Detention Order weighs on him.
