Russian Foreign Ministry assessed the agreement on the release of the Taliban in Afghanistan

“It's one thing to declare, but you need to release in reality, in practice. This is not yet available. Ashraf Ghani announced that the order would be signed on August 9 and people would be released. But that doesn't happen. That's what worries, ”he said.

According to the diplomat, at the moment it is important to start in practice freeing people and prepare for direct negotiations.

Earlier, the media reported that the National Assembly of the People's Representatives of Afghanistan (Loya Jirga) decided to release the remaining 400 prisoners - members of the radical Taliban movement.

In August, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo called on Afghanistan to release the Taliban to start intra-Afghan talks.
