This is stated on the website of the Moscow SK.

According to the investigation, at night at the end of June, three police officers, while patrolling the territory near a residential building on Arbat Square, stopped a car and searched the men in it. During the search of one of the men, they threw a bag with an unknown substance into his backpack, "which they later gave out as a drug they discovered."

“When the victims began to express disagreement with the actions of the police officers, they used special means against the searched and inflicted bodily harm on them. Then the police officers demanded that the victims transfer money to them in the amount of 300 thousand rubles for exemption from criminal liability, ”the statement says.

It is noted that the men, accompanied by law enforcement officers, proceeded to the nearest ATM, where the said amount was received by the police.

After that, the victims turned to the investigative unit of the Main Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia in the city of Moscow, and soon the perpetrators were detained.

“They are accused of committing crimes under paragraphs. "A, b" part 3 of Art. 286 of the Criminal Code of Russia (abuse of office), part 3 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of Russia (fraud committed by a person using his official position, as well as on a large scale), ”the department noted.

A preventive measure in the form of house arrest has already been chosen for the police.

On June 6, 2019, in the center of Moscow, a bag with narcotic substances was found in a backpack of journalist Ivan Golunov, which, as the man said, was planted on him. All charges were subsequently dropped from him.

In January, the court arrested Igor Lyakhovets, Denis Konovalov, Roman Feofanov, Akbar Sergaliev and Maxim Umetbaev, who took part in the arrest. They are accused of abuse of office, falsification of evidence and drug trafficking.

On August 7, it became known that the investigation into the case of drugs planted on Golunov had been completed.
