“There should be one policy - people,” BelTA quotes the president as saying during his visit to the Belarusian National Biotechnological Corporation.

On August 9, presidential elections were held in Belarus. After the closure of polling stations in Minsk, as well as in other cities, riots began.

As stated in the human rights center Viasna, at least 213 people were detained during the protests in the country. 

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus announced that there were no people killed as a result of the actions in Minsk.

According to the preliminary election results, Lukashenko is gaining 80.23% of the vote.
