As anti-government protests continue due to the massive explosion in Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, the Lebanese cabinet announced a general resignation on the 10th local time.

Lebanese Prime Minister Hassan Diab said in a speech to the public that the cabinet was resigning.

"We have suffered a major catastrophe," said Diab. "The Beirut explosion is the result of endemic corruption."

The cabinet, led by Prime Minister Diab, was launched in January with the support of the Islamic Shiite faction Hezbollah.

However, it did not produce any clear results in political reform and economic recovery, and the explosion was overlaid, leaving him stranded after seven months.

It is said that political turmoil in Lebanon is growing and Hezbollah, who led the current government, is on the defensive.

On the 8th and 9th, anti-government protests took place in the capital city of Beirut, calling for the resignation of the regime.

In particular, on the 8th, in the course of a massive conflict between protesters and police, one police officer was killed and more than 230 protesters and police officers were injured.

Also, from the 9th, four ministers, including Public Affairs Minister Abdel-Samad, Environment Minister Damianos Qatar, Justice Minister Mari Cloud Nasm, and Finance Minister Gazi Wazhny, expressed their appreciation one after another.

On the 4th, a large explosion occurred in Beirut, killing 160 people and injuring 6,000 people. The Lebanese government estimates that about 2,750 tons of ammonium nitrate, a flammable substance stored in a warehouse at the port of Beirut, have exploded for six years.

There are criticisms of government officials for virtually neglecting dangerous ammonium nitrate close to downtown Beirut.

Lebanon is facing an economic crisis due to enormous national debt, high unemployment rate, rising inflation and falling value of the Lebanese pound.

Lebanon maintains a unique political system that reflects 18 sects, including Islamic Sunni and Shiite, and Christian Maron.

Although it is nominally a presidential system, it is close to a cabinet system in which the prime minister takes power. In order to balance the powers between sects, the president is a Maronist Christian, the prime minister is an Islamic Sunni, and the parliamentary chair is an Islamic Shiite origin.

It is pointed out that this principle of power arrangement leads to conflict and political inefficiency between sects and factions.
