Chinanews.com, August 10th. According to a comprehensive report by the New Zealand Chinese Pioneer Network, last week, the New Zealand Immigration Service announced that it would suspend overseas visa applications for three months from August 10. In the latest notice issued on the afternoon of the 10th, the Immigration Bureau once again clarified the deadline for this "suspension period".

Since the New Zealand border was closed, the Immigration Department has only processed visas for foreigners who meet the strict travel ban exemption standards. However, there are still many foreigners who do not meet the exception requirements to continue to submit visa applications. However, the Immigration Bureau is unlikely to grant visas to these people. Therefore, the Immigration Bureau decided to suspend the application of temporary visas for foreigners.

According to the latest notice, this suspension period starts on August 10, 2020 and ends on November 9, 2020. In other words, overseas applicants can start applying for temporary visas again on November 10.

The only types of temporary visa applications that are not affected by this "suspension period" are as follows:

·Visa applications for spouses and dependent children of New Zealand citizens and residents based on relatives.

  · Visa applications for diplomatic, consular, public officials and accompanying family members.

·Antarctic traveler visitor visa and Antarctic work visa application.

  · Seasonal Employers (RSE) restrict visa applications.

There are also new regulations that will be implemented from August 10: foreigners or employers who apply for exemption from the travel ban must pay a certain fee when submitting an EOI.

At the same time, some temporary visa holders in New Zealand also need to pay attention: according to the epidemic situation, the New Zealand government will expire work permits, study permits, visit visas and visas between April 2 and July 9. Other temporary visas are automatically extended to September 25 this year. There is only more than a month before the expiration date, but the above-mentioned temporary visa is extremely unlikely to be extended again.
