“This is unprecedented for Acted,” lamented Marie-Pierre Caley, general manager of the NGO, which lost six of its employees in an attack in Niger. A complaint will be filed in Paris, Acted's lawyer announced at a press conference on Monday.

"It is a terrible paradox to see that our young humanitarian workers have been killed in a yellow zone, where we can go when we need rest," said Frédéric Roussel, co-founder of the humanitarian NGO. He points to the responsibility of the international community, leaving humanitarian workers "alone" in the face of violence.

On Sunday, six French people, including employees of the French NGO Acted, their driver and a tourist guide, both Nigerians, were killed Sunday by armed men who arrived on motorcycles in the Kouré area, during a tourist excursion, according to local authorities.
