Abu Dhabi Police warned of the danger and consequences of crossing the red light, due to lack of attention and distraction from the road, explaining that cutting the red signal means a dangerous accident for road users, so it classified the violation of crossing the red signal as a serious offense.

It identified three reasons why drivers overtake the red light signal, which are increasing speed at intersections to perceive the green signal, lack of attention, and distract from the road using the phone and the virtual world, calling on drivers to realize the danger of this violation on their lives and the lives of other drivers, and to abide by laws and traffic regulations.

It called on drivers to pay attention and focus while driving, and to avoid using the phone to browse the Internet and social networking sites while driving, in order to avoid vehicle veering or exceeding the red light signal.

She emphasized that she is following with interest monitoring violations of signal crossing through surveillance cameras at intersections, in cooperation with the Follow-up and Control Center in Abu Dhabi, and includes cutting the red light signal, and photographing vehicles crossing the intersection at speeds in excess of the prescribed speed for the street.

It is worth noting that the fine for violating the red light for light vehicles is 1000 dirhams, 12 traffic points and the vehicle seized for 30 days, and for trucks the financial violation is 3000 dirhams and the suspension of the license for a year starting from the date of revoking the license for heavy vehicles exceeding the red signal.
