7 "disturbing" rumors preceding the new school year

"Emirates Today" monitored the most widespread rumors about the educational process, during the period of adopting the "distance education" system.

The rumors, which caused confusion in the educational field and between students and their families, dealt with different topics, including not completing studies in the school year that ended, adopting new study materials, dispensing with teaching staff, canceling exams, and requiring students to take third semester exams in schools.

The Ministry of Education demanded not to pay attention to the rumors, and to obtain news from its official sources, pointing out to its danger to the stability of the school environment.

In detail, the educational community witnessed, since the beginning of the application of "distance education" as an experimental stage, during the month of February, the rumor of canceling the studies in the previous academic year (2019/2020), due to the precautionary measures that were adopted to prevent the spread of the Corona virus Newcomer (Covid-19).

On its website, the Ministry of Health denied this rumor, confirming that the study has been practically completed with the "distance education" system, and that the necessary measures have been taken to make it successful, by providing a large number of electronic devices for students.

There was also a rumor about allocating study material on the topic of Coronavirus.

The Ministry confirmed, in the same way, that it has directed schools to allocate three minutes from each class, for a period of two weeks, to educate students about the health measures required to protect themselves and their colleagues from contracting the virus, denying allocating a new course on this topic.

Another rumor, which the Ministry denied its authenticity, was the spread of a voice clip attributed to one of its leaders, in which he talked about ending the services of teachers who leave the country and return infected with the Coronavirus.

The Ministry also denied the validity of another clip circulated by some social media, of a woman claiming that the next academic year will start in July.

She explained that the circulating section included false information regarding the ministry’s study of providing the start of the next academic year in July (last), in addition to school students getting a leave at the end of the next academic year next January (2021).

Among the rumors, what was reported by some in the educational field through social media and chat groups about the possibility of implementing end-of-year examinations for students in the 12th grades by attending test centers in public schools, as the Ministry confirmed that the exams will be "remote" for "12" students in the two general tracks. And the advanced and integrated continuing education path, in public and private schools that apply the Ministry curriculum.

The Ministry denied that the school attendance for the next academic year, which begins on August 30, will be with 100% attendance of students to schools.

She explained that the educational scenario closest to the application is the hybrid education system within the Emirates Smart School, starting from the next academic year.

The last rumors of the educational community, which the ministry denied their authenticity, were what some circulated on the "groups" of social media, about the students' call to replace the school bags with sterile bags to carry their books in. A woman claimed in an audio clip that the ministry stressed the need to replace leather school bags. Or others with sterile plastic bags to carry textbooks, to ensure that Corona virus infection is not transmitted.

4 scenarios

The Ministry of Education, in response to one of the rumors, said that it had developed four flexible scenarios for school attendance, with education in the traditional format of 70% compared to 30% for e-learning, and working hours ranged between 5.30 and six hours.
