Lyon had to wait for the penalty shootout to win the final of the French Women's Football Cup on Sunday at the Abbé-Deschamps stadium in Auxerre (0 to 0, 4-3 tab) at the expense of Paris Saint-Germain at the end of 'a match that OL should have won in regulation time.

But the Lyonnaises will have to be more efficient to tackle their Champions League quarter-final against Bayern Munich, just like the Parisiennes against Arsenal.

As in the Champions Trophy, against PSG, already, Elodie Le Sommer missed her attempt, stopped by Chilean goalkeeper Christiane Endler.

The latter then Lea Khelifi, whose shooting was stopped by Sarah Bouhaddi, failed on the side of Paris-SG.

Under the storm, which caused a power failure and an interruption of a quarter of an hour after ten minutes of play, then a continual rain, the champions of France amply deserved their victory.

They showed real strength, especially defensive, thirteen days to face Bayern Munich on August 22 in Bilbao.

The Lyonnaises will still have the opportunity to gain strength but they will have to seek to improve their offensive efficiency during two friendly matches against Juventus Turin and PSV Eindhoven during a tournament organized at the Groupama stadium in Décines-Charpieu August 13 and 15.

For its part, PSG, which will also play on August 22 in San Sebastián against Arsenal, will go from August 16 to 21 for a training course in Hagetmau in the Landes but will not play any other match.

- Problems in finishing -

This is the ninth success in the Coupe de France for Olympique Lyonnais (eleven if we count the two won by FC Lyon from which he took over) which thus won, at national level, the triplet Trophée des championnes- Championship-Coupe de France now hoping for a quadruple with the Champions League.

This is the 30th title for women's OL in all competitions.

The Rhone, title holders, created several clear chances, especially in the first period, which should have allowed them to win before the penalties.

But they have, as on several occasions this season and again against Guingamp (1-0), August 2 in the semifinals, sin in the finish, which could obviously be prejudicial against Bayern.

Thus, Nikita Parris (35, 40, 61) was close to finding the opening just like Wendie Renard from the 8th minute while Amel Majri was stopped in-extremis by Onema Grace Geyoro (23).

And for their part, none of the players who came off the bench in the second half, whether Eugénie Le Sommer, the Dutch Shanice van de Sanden or the English Jodie Taylor, was able to make the expected difference in the freshness despite several good offensives in the last half hour.

For its part, PSG, who had also struggled in the semifinals by winning in Bordeaux (2-1) was also strong defensively but did not succeed, unlike his opponent, to create no opportunity.
