One person contacted the police because he discovered that his rowing boat had been stolen. At the same time he saw a man on the boat out on Lake Vättern.

Right now, the maritime police are from Gothenburg in Jönköping to monitor maritime traffic, because they were on Lake Vättern, they got hold of the man about an hour after they were alerted.

- Yes, we had the Maritime Police on site in Lake Vättern, so they could come to the rescue, says Björn Öberg press spokesperson at the Police.

Escape from a youth home

The man who is in his late teens must have escaped from a youth residence on Visingsö, according to the police. The boat was towed back to Visingsö by the maritime police and the man was then taken back to the accommodation. The police have drawn up a report of arbitrary proceedings, but not theft.

- Now the naval police were here in Jönköping, otherwise the rescue service has a greater habit of handling such cases. But we have had cases where the police requisitioned (collect, editor's note) a boat and then set out, says Björn Öberg.
