"From August 11, 2020, the Labor Code has been supplemented with a norm establishing guarantees for employees aged 40 and over when undergoing medical examination to be released from work for one working day once a year, while retaining their place of work (position) and average earnings", - told the ministry.

The ministry also clarified that the release from work to undergo medical examination is aimed at preventing diseases and their detection at early stages.

In addition, the Ministry of Labor noted that an exemption for medical examination is provided for all employees for one paid day every three years, for employees aged 40 and over - for one working day once a year, for employees of pre-retirement and retirement age - for two working days once a year.

Earlier, the head of the State Duma committee on labor, social policy and veterans affairs, Yaroslav Nilov, in an interview with RT, commented on the message that Russians over 40 will receive an additional day off to undergo medical examination.

On July 31, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law according to which working Russians over 40 can get an additional paid day off once a year in order to undergo medical examination.

The document will come into effect on August 11.
