A source close to the wife of Saleh, the speaker of the House of Representatives meeting in Tobruk, told Al-Jazeera that today, Saleh will meet the US Ambassador to Libya Richard Norland in the Egyptian capital, Cairo.

The source added that Saleh and Norland will discuss in their meeting a permanent ceasefire in Libya, pushing for negotiations for a peaceful political solution, and transparency in the distribution of Libyan oil revenues.

He explained that on the agenda of the meeting of Saleh and the US ambassador is the issue of the presence of foreign forces in Libya, and the mechanisms for their withdrawal from the city of Sirte and the Al-Jufra air base.

On the other hand, Brigadier General Abdul Hadi Daraa, a spokesman for the Sirte-Al-Jufra operations room in Libya, said that during the past hours, they had observed the landing of two military cargo planes in locations controlled by the forces of retired Major General Khalifa Haftar.

Drah added in a statement that the two Russian-made Ilyushin cargo planes, one of them landed at the airport in the city of Sirte, and the other at the Al-Jafra air base in the center of the country.

He pointed out that the tonnage of the two aircraft is unknown, but it is likely that they are military equipment, pointing out that aircraft carrying military equipment have been spotted more than once.

The forces of the internationally recognized Government of National Accord continue to mobilize more on the Sirte front, from various cities and regions, in preparation for the start of the process of liberating the region (Sirte and Jufrah) from the grip of Haftar's forces.
