Behind the event are Hästholmens Bygdegård and Byalag, which organizes Cancer Day every year. Usually more people participate, but the corona times have meant that similar events have to be made smaller.

- Cancer Day went on all day so people came and went all the time, says Camilla Linusson, who is chairman of Hästholmens Bygdegård and Byalag.

Small crayfish

One of the elements was the crayfish fishery where the one who caught the biggest crayfish was rewarded. However, the largest crayfish caught was no larger than eleven centimeters, which can perhaps be explained by the fact that this year's crayfish season will be somewhat delayed, at least according to researcher Lennart Edsman at SLU Aqua at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences. Or the explanation is that it was mainly fished from the bridge.

Two troubadours

In addition to eight market exhibitors who, among other things, sold organic vegetables and locally produced products, there was entertainment in the form of troubadours David Andersson and John Cederqvist, while Björn Hanell told tales about Omberg.

Manifestation for the waters of Lake Vättern

In the afternoon, it was time for Aktion Rädda Vättern to give their view on the condition of Lake Vättern's waters. Elisabeth Lennartsson pointed out, among other things, how harmful it is to use Lake Vättern as a firing range and that the lead content in the lake increases from year to year.

Among the other speakers was the Green Party's Member of Parliament Rebecka le Moine from Norrköping, who said that she wanted an international environmental court to be established in The Hague.

- We must have an international law that makes it forbidden to commit the worst environmental crimes. It should not be possible to pay for environmental crimes, were part of Rebecka le Moine's speech.
