People's anger spread to bloodshed as it was pointed out that the massive explosion in Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, was a'personnel'. Over 200 people were injured in a collision with the police.

Angry protesters took over government buildings, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Energy, one after another.

Shouting the slogan "The government is a murderer," he burned the president's picture and took over the parliament building.


[Giad/Beirut Citizen: The President said it was an accident, but this explosion is a crime. It is not an accident.] The

protesters threw stones and Molotov cocktails fiercely against the police, firing tear gas and rubber bullets.

In the process, one policeman was killed and 230 people, including protesters and police, were injured.

Prime Minister Hassan Diab proposed an early general election in an emergency TV speech.

cabinet led by Diab was launched last January with the support of Shiite armed faction Hezbollah.

The regime's existence was jeopardized as economic recovery and reform were sluggish, and even the worst explosive catastrophe overlapped.
