On Saturday, a group of demonstrators, including retired soldiers, stormed the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Ashrafieh, east Beirut, declaring that it was "the headquarters of the revolution."

Their spokesman, retired Brigadier General Sami Ramah, told reporters in a statement that he read, "From the Foreign Ministry headquarters, which we have taken as the headquarters of the revolution, we call on the oppressed Lebanese people to go to the squares and demand the trial of all the corrupt."

The demonstrators tightened their control of the building and guarded it to protect the documents and contents inside.
