Wearing a mask outdoors will be mandatory from Monday in some very busy areas in Paris as well as in Seine-Saint-Denis, Hauts-de-Seine, Val-de-Marne and Val-d'Oise, have indicated Saturday the prefectures concerned in a press release.

"All the indicators show that the virus is circulating again more actively in the region," said the press release, which did not detail the areas concerned. Wearing a mask will be compulsory for those over 11 from Monday at 8:00 a.m.

The rate of positive tests reached today, according to the press release, 2.4% in Ile-de-France against 1.6% on the national average.

"The incidence is particularly important among 20-30 year olds. It is also higher in Paris and in the departments of the small crown (Seine-Saint-Denis, Val-de-Marne, Hauts-de-Seine), thus only in a few towns in the Val d'Oise ", it is specified.

The decision to wear a compulsory mask in frequented areas was taken on the basis of health recommendations formulated by the Regional Health Agency (ARS) of Ile-de-France, add the prefectures.

These areas, which will be the subject of a regular assessment, are likely to change in the coming weeks depending on their frequentation and the evolution of the epidemic.

Tuesday, the mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo had asked that the mask be mandatory in several frequented sectors of the capital including the Seine quays, open markets and, possibly, near train stations.

Long presented as "useless" by the authorities, the mask became compulsory in public places closed on July 20. For a week now, the prefects have been authorized to impose it on the outside "when local circumstances require it".

And since many municipalities have already set it up such as Nice, Rennes, Lille, Nice, Marseille, La Rochelle ...
