- Everyone I talk to is affected by what has happened. I meet a lot of people who are resigned and this is not sustainable. Many think that this was the last straw and I talk to several who intend to move from here, they do not think it is safe to live in Norsborg, says Martin Lazar to SVT Nyheter.

What do you say to those who intend to move away from Norsborg?

- I try to urge and say that you must not give up. We authorities really do everything to create as safe an environment as possible for our citizens. We do this together because you can not just rely on us to do all the work, because the citizens also have a responsibility for development.

- This place is very well visited and I have been here several times both in service and privately. I'm sure there are people who know what happened, and I think everyone should take their responsibility and tell the police so we can catch the perpetrators. It is very important that everyone contributes and tells what they know.

Tense mode

Lazar also talks about an increasingly tense situation during the corona pandemic. According to him, this is because the supply of drugs has slowed down in combination with the police putting more resources against the criminal gangs.

- The criminal gangs have a little too many conflicts right now in society. On the one hand, they have internal conflicts with each other and then external conflicts with other gangs. Then their biggest enemy is the authorities who work together to get them. This makes it very crowded on the streets for criminals. Thanks to the border being closed, there are fewer drugs on the streets and we continue our work and they feel crowded, he says.

Increase understanding

Martin Lazar believes that the fatal shooting of the 12-year-old girl is a failure for the whole society. Now he demands that something be done to stop the negative development.

- We need better tools so that we put the perpetrators there and get more resources so that we can work to create security on the streets. Then we need to increase the understanding of the authorities in society and build relationships between our citizens. They need to trust us, and that is where we need to put our resources and energy.
