It has been nearly three months since Brazil has recorded an average of 1,000 deaths per day from Covid-19, and there is no downward trend. The official figures (100,477 dead and 3,012,412 confirmed cases of contamination) must however be put into perspective due to insufficient testing, specialists estimating that the total number of infected people could be up to six times higher. figures hardly move President Bolsonaro: "  Life goes on,  " he said this week, not knowing when the milestone of 100,000 dead was going to be crossed.

And yet, the head of state is one of three million people who have been affected by the virus, along with his wife and eight other ministers, or a third of his government.

The virus is relentless  "

In Brazil, containment has never been very rigorous, and deconfinement has often been messy, which has caused new gatherings and new sources of contamination. We have not succeeded in implementing an isolation policy ," says an intensive care specialist at Einstein Hospital in São Paulo. The virus is roaming free. He's omnipresent, and he's relentless.  ". Difficult in these conditions to regain the upper hand.

According to the Worldometres website, Brazil has proportionally the same number of deaths due to Covid-19 as France (465 per million inhabitants). On the other hand, the number of cases per million inhabitants (14,000) is much greater there than in France (3,000).
