A few weeks ago, Rwandan President Paul Kgame extended his hand to the new Burundian authorities so that they "turn the page" of five years of quarrel. The Burundian president has just answered him by opposing him an end of refusal according to the twitter account of the presidency in Bujumbura.

General Evariste Ndayishimiye responded to his Rwandan counterpart according to the twitter account of the Burundian presidency, which yesterday published excerpts from a speech delivered the day before in the town of Busoni, in the northeast of the country, bordering Rwanda.

In this speech Evariste Ndayishimiye opposes a clear end of inadmissibility to Paul Kagame by accusing him of being "  hypocrite  ". It is based in particular on an open letter written by five refugees claiming to act on behalf of some 300 others, and who claim to be taken hostage in Rwanda.

We want to have good relations with all the neighboring countries or the distant countries which welcome Burundian refugees. But we are not going to have good relations with a country which uses malice, a hypocritical country, which claims to want to renew good relations with Burundi while at the same time it is placing a big thorn under our foot so that 'we hurt ourselves on it.

But we know why they took these Burundian refugees hostage. They did so so that they could serve as shields for the criminals who mourned Burundi in 2015.

If they really want to reconnect with Burundi, let them hand over these criminals to us so that they can be judged, because the Burundians will not find their peace as long as they are responsible for the 2015 crisis [the demonstrations against the 3rd mandate ofPierre Nkurunziza and their repression Ed] are not punished.  "

Evariste Ndayishimiye's words were collected and translated by Esdras Ndikumana , from the Africa service of RFI.
