The latest bathing water samples taken on 3 August pointed out three beaches with unusable water: Örby meadows, Vikingsstrand and Tropical beach.

The bacterial content is too high and bathing is not recommended. But why? It's a mystery.

- We actually do not know, says Tomas Terje, area manager at the city building administration.

Normally, poop bacteria end up in the Sound when it has rained so much that the sewage system floods. But that is not the case now.

Bacteria on the bottom can be the cause

Earlier this summer, SVT Nyheter Helsingborg did a feature on research in Helsingborg that shows that e-coli bacteria, which is the more formal name for the bacteria, can hide in the bottom sand off the beaches.

- Currents can stir in the bottom sediment so that they reach the water. That is probably the explanation, says Tomas Terje.

But he also points out that no citizen of Helsingborg needs to refrain from dipping.

- We have a total of over 20 beaches from north to south in the municipality.

On the municipality's website, you can follow the sampling results on the beaches.
