The schooling of hundreds of students began on Friday when a school teacher was diagnosed with a coronavirus infection in Ludwigslust in the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.
The school had not opened until Monday, and the infected teacher had not yet taught any lessons. However, all the other 55 teachers in the school now need to be tested, so the school will start again on Wednesday at the earliest. The school has nearly 800 students.
Also in Rostock, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, about a hundred primary school pupils were quarantined for two weeks when one of the pupils was diagnosed with a coronary infection.
The German education authorities are closely monitoring the situation in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, as it is the first state where schools start after the summer break.
