The Kings and their daughters arrived in Palma late this Friday afternoon to start their usual summer stay at the Marivent Palace, which this year will last until 18 August. Twelve days during which they plan to visit Mallorca, Menorca and Ibiza to find out how the coronavirus pandemic is affecting various sectors of the Balearic Islands and meet with representatives of their institutions.

The Royal Family have moved from the airport to Marivent in a vehicle driven by Felipe VI and in which Princess Leonor occupied the passenger seat. Behind were Queen Letizia and Infanta Sofía, who greeted the informants from inside the car as they have done, but lowering the right front window, the King and the heir to the Crown.

The arrival has been witnessed by numerous journalists and photojournalists who have congregated at the gates of the palace in much greater numbers than years ago. An influx of media representatives motivated by the fact that this is the first time that the Kings have been seen publicly outside the Palacio de la Zarzuela after the departure of King Juan Carlos from Spain to a still unknown location.

In the Marivent Palace the Kings coincide with Queen Sofía, who has been in Palma for several days accompanied by her sister Irene from Greece and who could be seen on Wednesday shopping in the streets of the city center.

The official agenda of the kings will not begin until next Monday, August 10, when Felipe VI will hold hearings at the Almudaina Palace with the regional president, Francina Armengol; that of the regional Parliament, Vicenç Thomas; the mayor of Palma, José Hila, and the president of the Consell de Mallorca, Catalina Cladera.

In the afternoon, together with the queen, the princess and the infanta, they will visit the Birthplace and Museum of Blessed Franciscan Friar Junípero Serra in the Mallorcan town of Petra.

Together with their daughters, the kings will also visit in Palma on Tuesday, the 11th, the Naüm socio-educational project.

On Wednesday, the 12th, the monarch will maintain the traditional office with the head of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, at the Marivent Palace.

It will be the first time that they will be seen together since the departure of King Juan Carlos from Spain was announced last Monday due to the controversy generated by his alleged hidden businesses abroad.

On Thursday, the 13th, the kings will travel to Menorca to visit the Coinga production plant , in the town of Alaior, and hold a meeting with representatives of the Mahón cheese designation of origin .

They will complete their stay on this island with a visit to the Naveta des Tudons, in Ciutadella, the most relevant prehistoric monument in Menorca.

Don Felipe and Doña Letizia will also go to Ibiza during their stay in the Balearic Islands.
