In mid-June, the Swedish Public Health Agency eased its restrictions and allowed competitions for all ages. Among other things, equestrian sports are classified as an arena sport and competitions may now be carried out, but without an audience. The Swedish Equestrian Federation's federal board has drawn up the competition rules and which clubs in the country must now comply with.

Division into zones

Among other things, it is about dividing the competition area into zones, where each zone may contain a maximum of 50 people. But the number of zones in the area is not limited, or how large the zones must be.

The organizers of the Karl-Oskar cup, Växjöortens Fältrittklubb and Lammhults Ridklubb, decided to hold the pony competition in Växjö despite the pandemic. It required some planning and change of location - from Värendsvallen to Bergunda.

- The reason why we moved out here to Bergunda is that here we have larger areas. We can divide the area into larger and more zones to make the competition safe, says Tobias Jönberg, chairman of Växjöortens Fältrittklubb.

Up to 600 people on site

Between 500-600 people are expected to be on site this weekend, but according to Tobias Jönberg, never so many people will be on site at the same time as the competition is spread over three days.

How will you ensure that each zone does not exceed 50 people?

- At the parking lot, there are parking guards with lists and refer to the right place. When you enter the track, there is one there and dots of them. The critical thing is the track where more than 50 people can gather and we should not do that. So there we will be strict and also the judge will be strict and help us with that, says Tobias Jönberg.
