As noted, on August 7, the means of control detected two air targets approaching the border, after which a Su-27 fighter was raised to intercept.
The fighter's crew identified the targets as the US Air Force RC-135 strategic reconnaissance aircraft and the US Navy's P-8A Poseidon patrol aircraft.
"After the American reconnaissance aircraft turned from the Russian border, the Russian fighter returned safely to the home airfield," the message says.
It is indicated that no violations of the border by American aircraft were allowed.
On August 5, a Russian Su-27 fighter jet also flew to intercept a US Navy radio reconnaissance aircraft over the Black Sea.
