IFK Halmstad's athletics school, for children aged 6-13, has been a permanent feature of the association's summer activities in recent years. But never has the interest been as great as this year.

Previously, the athletics school lasted for two weeks, but due to the great interest, the club has extended the time to three weeks.

- It's great fun, I think it's a lot because people are home more this year and want their children to have something to do, says Andreas Carlsson, responsible leader of the athletics school.

Promising talents as a coach

At the athletics school, which has now reached its end, about 20 promising talents from the association have been leaders.

For 16-year-old Matilda Åkerman, who among other things competes in hurdles, height, ball and long jump, participated in the Swedish Championships and won the USM bronze in all-around, time has been rewarding for her future sports career.

"Athletics can be difficult in the beginning"

- Teaching technology means that I myself understand how to do it, she says.

Matilda Årman has trained athletics most of her life, and her goal is to join the national team next year.

- Athletics can be difficult in the beginning for someone who has not done it before, but if you continue over and over again it will be easier, she says.
