07 August 2020 "The proposal for the expansion of Fiumicino airport would have impacted imposingly on a part of the reserve on the Roman coast, violating a series of constraints. Already in October the negative opinion of the Via-Vas commission had arrived. Now, after all the necessary administrative steps, there is the final signature ".The Minister of the Environment Sergio Costa thus officially confirms, in consultation with the Minister for Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism Dario Franceschini, the decree which expresses a negative opinion on the environmental compatibility of the "Master Plan 2030" of the Fiumicino airport, presented by ENAC.
The measure will be communicated to the proposer, to the ministries for cultural heritage and activities and infrastructure and transport, and to the Lazio region, which will bring it to the attention of the other interested administrations.
It will be available on the website of the ministry of the environment, together with the opinion of the technical commission to verify the environmental impact of Via e Vas and the opinion of the ministry for heritage and cultural activities.
