Many pictures circulated after the double explosion which took place this Tuesday in Beirut (Lebanon). Some photos show the terrifying consequences of this tragedy which claimed the lives of at least 140 people and left thousands injured.

This is the case of a photo shared by the Lebanese actor Adel Karam on his Instagram account. She's taken from what used to be her living room, whose floor-to-ceiling windows were blown away by the explosion, reports  HuffPost.

Destroyed or disfigured neighborhoods

The actor is seated with his back on a bench strewn with debris. He looks at the city through the broken window of his apartment. In the distance, a few kilometers from its accommodation, we can make out the port, in which the 2,750 tons of ammonium nitrate which were said to be at the origin of the double explosion had been stored for six years.

Heard as far as Cyprus, the blasts plunged the city into fear. They made buildings shake and smashed windows for miles around. Entire neighborhoods around the port have been destroyed. That of Mar Mikhaël, appreciated by the Lebanese youth, is disfigured. Around 300,000 people are now homeless.
