The prosecutor demanded that the mother be sentenced to 14 years in prison for murder, but the court chose to acquit the mother of murder, aggravated assault and breach of the peace. Instead, she is convicted of causing another person's death and drug offenses.

The defense has previously claimed that drug abuse is behind the crime and that the woman should therefore be sentenced to so-called contract care. But that did not happen.
