As SVT Nyheter Väst previously revealed, Skanska is threatening to interrupt work on the new Hisingsbron. The construction giant demands 345 million for extra costs, but the traffic office that ordered the bridge protests. The bridge now looks to be even more expensive than the three and a half billion kronor that was originally intended.

The politicians in the traffic committee were not aware that Skanska was threatening to stop work on the bridge, which GP was the first to report on. Only on the same day as SVT Nyheter Väst requested the documents were they informed.

Only Toni Orsulic (M), who is the committee's chairman, knew about the conflict. He says he was informed before the summer.

- My perspective is that this is a matter of negotiation. It's a lot of money, but if you look at construction projects and what money it's about, it's not a shocking percentage, then it's still a large sum of money. Of course we have to pay what we are responsible for, there is no discussion, but we also want a specification so that we clearly see what it is we pay for, says Toni Orsulic (M).

The traffic office has been called incompetent by Skanska, do you agree?

- I do not agree with that. Everything is a negotiation strategy. I do not share the view that it was handled incorrectly. But there is a negotiation going on. It's a bit boring way to express themselves, but it must stand for them, he says.

- I have no doubt that the construction will be completed, then we will see what the costs will be in the end. The city needs a new connection and that it should be completed is in everyone's interest, he says.

"Very large sum of money"

- It is a very large sum of money, if it were to affect Gothenburg's taxpayers, this is very serious. But I hope that it will be a good deal, says Karin Pleijel (MP) who is a member and 2nd vice chairman of the committee.

Blerta Hoti (S), who is a member, also says that she was called on Monday and received the information.

- I think it is unfortunate that the information came so late, I think it is unfortunate that a conflict has arisen and it is unfortunate if Gothenburgers as taxpayers should be responsible for a larger bill. But I assume that the traffic office and Skanska solve it in a responsible way, she says to GP.
