The Rome Court, in a verdict issued in a judgment issued during the past hours, condemned the Italian Radio and Television Corporation (Rai), which confirmed last May that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel, through one of the most famous programs for competitions that are broadcast live.
The case had reached the judiciary after two Palestinian organizations in Italy lodged an appeal requesting the court to condemn the official Italian media establishment and force it to correct its mistake.
Judge Cecilia Pratizi, in her operative part, relied on international legitimacy and numerous United Nations resolutions condemning the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem.
For his part, lawyer Fausto Janelli, one of the most important experts of international law in Italy, commented that it is the first time that a national court has ruled on the legal status of Jerusalem, adding, "Today we are happy that it is now necessary for the (Ray) media institution to announce - according to the court decision - For its mistake and the unequivocal assertion that Jerusalem is not the capital of Israel.
"Jerusalem is not the capital of Israel, and everything cannot be tolerated," added Janelli.
