Sevilla FC and Bayer Leverkusen qualified Thursday for the "Final 8" of the Europa League, beating AS Roma (2-0) and Glasgow Rangers (1-0) respectively.

The Spaniards will face in quarterfinals the English of Wolverhampton or the Greeks of Olympiakos, which must be decided in the evening (19:00 GMT). The Germans inherit them from Inter Milan, victorious Wednesday from Getafe.

Sevilla, five times winner of the "small" European Cup, continues on its way to a sixth title with its victory over Roma, acquired after a single match on neutral ground due to the Covid-19 pandemic .

In Duisburg (Germany), Julen Lopetegui's men dominated the proceedings and took advantage of the weaknesses of Spain's Roma goalkeeper, Pau Lopez.

Sergio Reguilon adjusted it with a low shot for the opener (22nd), after avoiding two Roman defenders.

Then Lucas Ocampos forced the Catalan goalkeeper to move away from his cage to counter his strike ... but not enough, and Youssef En-Nesyri, opportunist, pushed the ball into the empty goal (44th).

In Leverkusen, the Germans, victorious over Rangers 3-1 in March, won the second leg 1-0, which was as physical and disjointed as expected.

The Rhine club consolidated its lead with a beautiful goal (51st) from Moussa Diaby. The young Frenchman scored after a one-on-one with the goalkeeper, after a through ball from Charles Aranguiz.
