The first escort formation
On December 26, 2008, the first fleet of ships consisting of the Wuhan ship, the Haikou ship and the Weishan Lake ship set sail from Sanya to perform escort missions in the Somali waters of the Gulf of Aden. This is the first time that China has used military forces to maintain its national strategy overseas. First escort operation

The first round-the-world visit of the escort formation
On April 3, 2015, the 152 ship formation composed of Jinan, Yiyang and Qiandaohu completed the escort mission and went to Egypt, Sweden, the United States, Cuba and other 13 countries for a round-the-world visit. The mission lasted 309 days. Passing through three oceans and five continents, berthing in 16 countries and 18 ports, the mission's long voyage, wide sea area, long time span, and number of countries visited are the highest in the history of the People’s Navy.
