Attractions around the world are empty and many places that make a living from tourism have been hit hard.

In Sweden, there are three industries that stand out, according to the industry association SRF's survey: Travel agencies and tour operators, hotels and restaurants as well as advertising and marketing agencies.

- Hotels and restaurants have half the proportion laid off compared to our industry, says SRF's Secretary General Didrik von Seth.

Far more than average

The average laid off in Sweden is 12 percent. In the travel industry, the redundancy rate is 83 percent, in hotels and restaurants 42 percent, shows SRF's survey and figures from the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth.

Now there are fears that Sweden will lose thousands of jobs.

- The government announced before midsummer that no measures to solve the travel industry's acute situation were relevant at the moment. This risks jobs moving, not only to our neighboring countries, but also to other places in the world, says Didrik von Seth.
