The Moderates' regional council and group leader, Malin Wengholm (M), believes that the region is in a breach of trust that affects the county. Therefore, the party is now raising three proposals that they want to see come into force for employees within the Jönköping County Region.

- We have been pushing for these proposals since last spring but have not received any support from the coalition in the region. The staff is our backbone, it is our most important resource and regions already have difficulties today in being able to maintain good and safe care, there is a shortage of nurses throughout the country and then you can not solve this by treating them badly, says Malin Wengholm (M) regional councilor and group leader.

Retroactive compensation

One of the proposals is that those who have been affected by covid-19 at their workplace or who may be affected, retroactively, should be replaced with the difference between sick pay and regular pay.

Another proposal is for higher compensation for holiday weeks that staff are forced to move at short notice following unilateral employer decisions. It is a matter of continuing and retroactively replacing them with SEK 15,000 per moved week within the statutory holiday period. In the case of a week that is moved outside the statutory holiday period, the staff shall be compensated with SEK 30,000 per week moved.

The moderates also want to see four dialogue meetings per year between politicians and staff where views that emerge must be documented and handled.

Earlier this summer, the region promised compensation for relocated services, but not retroactively for those already affected. There are also some other extra allowances for healthcare professionals who work with covid patients. Among the staff, the outrage has been great in several places, and that is the background to the Moderates' proposal.

The ruling parties are waiting

SVT Nyheter Jönköping has sought the leadership of the governing coalition, but the regional board's vice chairman Marcus Eskdahl (S) says that he does not want to comment on the Moderates' proposal today.

- The coalition has invited talks next week where politicians and union representatives will be represented on the basis that a business perspective linked to the pandemic will be discussed. We want to listen to what the staff have to say before we take the next step forward, says Marcus Eskdahl (S).
