Earlier, the State Duma Committee on Security and Anti-Corruption sent a request to the Central Election Commission of Russia to provide information about the possible presence of dual citizenship or residence permits in other countries for a number of deputies.

From June 25 to July 1, an all-Russian vote was held on amendments to the Constitution of Russia, changes to the country's basic law were supported by 77.92% of the participants.

On July 3, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on the official publication of the Constitution, as amended, which entered into force the next day.

The new norms of the main law envisage a ban on foreign citizenship for the president, prime minister, his deputies, ministers and heads of other federal executive bodies, as well as senators and deputies.
