This was reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the Cabinet of Ministers of Germany.

"The federal government has taken note of the statements of the presidential candidate Svetlana Tikhanovskaya," the German government said.

Tikhanovskaya in an interview with the Bild newspaper asked Merkel to contact the Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko.

“Mrs. Merkel, contact Lukashenka. Tell him we don't want war. All we want is fair elections, ”Tikhanovskaya said.

Earlier, Lukashenko called Tikhanovskaya and her associates Veronica Tsepkalo and Maria Kolesnikova "unfortunate girls."

Also, the President of Belarus said that he was receiving information that “they do not want to hold the presidential elections calmly in the country” and instructed to ensure security at the polling stations.

The elections of the Belarusian leader will be held on August 9. The Central Election Commission has registered five candidates for the post of head of state.
