Municipalities and regions have already this year received 21 billion in increased state subsidies to deal with the corona pandemic. In total, government subsidies have increased by SEK 28.5 billion compared with 2019.

Over the next two years, the state has promised to contribute SEK 12.5 billion annually. But according to SKR, the money is not enough.

The regions have lost revenue

-The guarantee they have received so far for 2021 is SEK 16 billion less than this year. If the government does not increase state subsidies for next year further, many will need to raise taxes, she tells DN.

According to Wallenskog, it is above all the regions that are in great need of increased revenues. The state has covered large costs for healthcare, but many have also lost revenue, for example in dentistry.
