The Lebanese government declared "a state of emergency in the city of Beirut for two weeks" after the two deadly explosions in the Beirut port area. 

In the aftermath of the deadly explosions in the port which caused unprecedented damage in the capital, the government declared "a state of emergency in the city of Beirut for two weeks". This was announced at a press conference by the Minister of Information, Manal Abdel Samad. He also specified that "a supreme military power will immediately be in charge of the prerogatives in matters of security".
