The Deputy Assistant to the President and Director of Counter-Terrorism at the National Security Council Cash Patel said that the administration of President Donald Trump is considering imposing sanctions on Hezbollah allies in Lebanon.

While participating in a videoconference with The Washington Institute, Patel explained that the imposition of sanctions should take into account whether the targeted figures were ready to cooperate to undermine Hezbollah.

He added, "It is not surprising that Hezbollah has allies within the Lebanese government, and this is documented."

Patel pointed out that the issue facing Washington in imposing sanctions and dismantling a terrorist organization is "Are we imposing sanctions on a person we believe will help us dismantle Hezbollah? Or are we seeking to work with this person through a diplomatic effort to see if he will lead efforts in Lebanon to undermine the Hezbollah network?" ".

He added that he personally dealt with senior officials in the Lebanese government on this issue, noting that Washington imposed sanctions on some individuals during the Trump administration, but there are others considering imposing sanctions on them, "I think you will hear good news in the future."
