Unable to decide when to reopen school in 100 countries "The biggest turmoil ever" United Nations, 5 August 4:40

The United Nations has not been able to decide when to restart schools in about 100 countries around the world due to the spread of the new coronavirus. I am calling for a restart.

On the 4th, the United Nations released a report by Secretary-General Guterres summarizing the current state of education in each country under the spread of the new coronavirus.

The report states that "the largest disruption to the education system in history has occurred" because it is affected by the new coronavirus, which currently affects around 1.6 billion people in 190 countries.

And about 100 countries could not decide when to restart schools that were closed to prevent the spread of infection, saying "If the school system collapses, a peaceful and affluent society cannot be maintained." It shows concern that it will be affected.

In addition, the report calls for countries to make every possible effort to contain the infection and to expand their education budgets and aim for early resumption of schools.

Especially in developing countries, we have appealed for cooperation to the international community, saying that ODA = official development assistance aimed at debt relief and education by developed countries is necessary.
