Teachers opposed to resume face-to-face classes at US school protest rally New Corona August 4 12:17

In the United States, where severe infections with the new coronavirus continue to spread, teachers and parents who oppose the resumption of face-to-face classes at schools held protest meetings in various locations.

Many American schools are currently on summer vacation, but the Trump administration and the ruling Republicans are demanding that they resume face-to-face classes from the new semester.

Against this backdrop, face-to-face classes lead to further spread of the infection, and protests were held by teachers and parents in more than 30 cities in the United States on the 3rd.

Approximately 500 people participated in the rally held in New York City and marched up to the building of the city's Education Department with placards and other materials calling for premature resumption.

New York City has a policy of restarting some face-to-face classes and beginning a new semester if the virus test rate in the city remains below 3%.

One of the participating teachers said, "The city plan does not ensure the safety of faculty members and children, and the infection control measures such as disinfection and the securing of personnel are insufficient."

In the United States, elementary and junior high schools and high schools were closed in almost all states from March to April when the infection with the new coronavirus spread.

While it has been said that long-term school closures have a great impact on parents who have children's education and work, there is a strong concern about infection at school, and it is unclear how the school will be restarted from the new semester.
